Afterdeath Kindle Ì Paperback afterdeath mobile, Afterdeath EpubMany of us have wondered what comes after we die and that is precisely what Chartier attempts to imagine with “Afterdeath” This is the story of twin sisters Chloe and Olivia who—outside of having a ridiculously sad backstory—decide to go on a road trip to reconnect with one another after being separated for awhile in the foster care system Along the way tragedy strikes again and the sisters find themselves well dead From there you’d think they’d immediately either freak out and try to figure out what happened and what to do—and they do for maybe a page before deciding to just wander aimlessly fo

Afterdeath Kindle Ì Paperback afterdeath mobile, Afterdeath EpubSPOILERS BELOWFull disclosure Reviewer knows the authorIt took me a while to read this book longer than would normally be the case for a work of this length but I can explain this for two reasons 1 Mr Chartier needed to take the time to set up the world in which this novel takes place and it is surreal enough to give Wonderland a run for its money; and2 The text itself is rich and heavy like cheesecake There's a lot of detail a lot of checking on the main characters' emotional states a lot of dialogue which serves to advance the plot while at the same time providing the reader with information about the setting itself This is not a novel you can casually breeze through in an afternoon but rather something that for me at least needs to be consumed in bite sized portionsIt's heavy then but there is also a reward in that This is an ambitious book that shares with the reader a model of the afterlife that tries to be as global as possible if there's a uniue belief system in the world it

Afterdeath Kindle Ì Paperback afterdeath mobile, Afterdeath EpubBenoit Chartier is a young Canadian writer of science fiction He has written several short stories and two novels Red Nexus and Afterdeath He’s already very good and what’s he’s going to get betterAfterdeath is as hypnotic as the vivid dream you had last week and can’t uite remember but also can’t forget When he’s “on” Ben’s writing is really spectacularly goodThere are passages in Afterdeath that crackle with life closely obs

Afterdeath Kindle Ì Paperback afterdeath mobile, Afterdeath Epub355This book was an interesting concept A pair of twins have a car accident the result of which is not what they nor the reader expected I really enjoyed the changing settings in this story It was as if every fantasy setting and some science fiction settings you can think of appeared in this novel This novel successfully manages to combine ancient Greek mythology with modern settings and a touch of fin de siecleThe characters were likable relatable and delightfully flawed As the reader we end up with a bit of a lovehate relationship with them and we have an interest in what they will do next We’re surprised by some of their actions just as they areAt no point was I sure of the outcome which is an aspect I love The book is left wide open for a second story While there is a clear ending we are left wondering what happens to some of the charactersThere are some issues in the book which could likely be fixed by

Afterdeath Kindle Ì Paperback afterdeath mobile, Afterdeath EpubTwin sisters Chloe and Olivia have drifted apart since their parents’ deaths Now that their grandma is dead the two decide to become reacuainted with a sister road trip They both die That sounds like a spoiler but it happens early in the book and the real story is about what happens AFTER Death Hence the title get it RightSo what does happen next Let’s just say it’s NOTHING like you might expect Olivia is a serious Christian Chloe an agnostic and both of them are in for a shock when they get to the other side First of all

Afterdeath Kindle Ì Paperback afterdeath mobile, Afterdeath EpubI’ll admit to having had a little difficulty getting into the book at first mostly because Afterdeath falls a little outside of my usual book choices That being said the writing is excellent the story wildly imaginative and Benoit Chartier has drawn on enough real world mythology to give his book great depth Once I got going I couldn’t put it down and ended up reading until early in the morning to finish it Very highly recommended
